Dr Vikash Lala

Dr. Vikash Lala obtained his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. He subsequently completed the European Specialty Examination in Gastroenterology & Hepatology and then completed a fellowship in advanced endoscopy at the University Hospital of Ghent in Belgium, before returning to practice as an interventional endoscopist in South Africa. He is passionate about teaching and promoting quality in endoscopy in South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa as a whole. Through active collaborations with his base institutions, local organizations (South African Gastroenterology Society and the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Association of Sub-Saharan Africa) and GIEQs he hopes to bridge the large divide in endoscopy training/capacity between Africa and the industrialized world.
